10 Things You Mightn’t Have Noticed In Windows 7 Build 7022
Posted February 11, 2009 – 4:57 pm in: Windows 7, Windows 7 GuidesAs you might know, Windows 7 build 7022 was leaked to the torrents two days back. In fact, the latest build 7032 might find its way to the torrents in a few days.
* First and foremost change in the 7022 is the new look of the Task Pane. The background image has been changed to a lighter one which is not only impressive but also cool as well. The second major thing is the inclusion of Internet Explorer RC 1. Apart from these two major changes, there are many small changes in the build 7022 and I will try to list out all of them in this guide.
* Windows properties window has a new welcome change. As you might know, generally 32-bit Windows flavor doesn’t use more than 3.25 GB of RAM. In the earlier version of Windows or in build of Windows 7 we could only view 3.25 GB of RAM in the system properties even if you have 4 or 6 GB of RAM installed on your machine. In the 7022 build, Windows detects and shows the full amount of installed RAM along with the usable amount of RAM by Windows. This is really welcome change as there are thousands of questions have been asked on the same problem.
* There are two new options in the Start menu: Downloads and Home Group link. As you can predict, the Downloads contain all the downloaded files and the Home Group lets you access and add folders to this group.
* As you can see the below screenshot, you can access Resume last playlist option directly. The Beta comes with only “Play all music shuffled” task. The media player icon has been modified slightly and Library button has been moved to the top corner of the now playing screen.
* Two screensavers, Windows logo and Aurora, have been removed from the Screen Savers list.
* A new cool video has been added to the Sample Videos folder.
* As I have previously mentioned, build 7022 has a new Task Pane background. And also, Microsoft has removed the small Taskpane of the Control Panel in this build and has added a light bluish header pane. In this build, Control Panel gets new "View By" option which has Category, Large Icons, and small icons options.
* Windows 7 no longer asks you to create a group during installation. Windows automatically creates one during the Windows installation.
* Another cool feature is that you can now remove Media Player, Media Center and DVD Maker by using Windows features.
There might be a few small changes that I have not noticed or left in this post as I haven’t actually played with this build yet! Thanks to Windows Forums for the screenshots of the 7022 build.
