Metro-style icons have been popular even since the release of Windows Phone 7. A good number of icons and icon packs are available on the web to replace default Windows icons. The next version of Windows, Windows 8 also includes Start screen inspired from Windows Phone 7 UI.
Despite introducing Metro-style Start screen and apps, Microsoft hasn’t incorporated Metro-style icons in Windows 8. That is, Windows 8 carries most of icons from previous versions of Windows. Users who love Metro-style icons and want to replace the default icons with the cool black-and-white icons, can now download an awesome pack that contains over 575 icons for your Windows 7 and Windows 8 operating systems.
Windows 8 Icons Pack contains over 575 icons and the pack is updated daily to include new icons. The pack comprises icons for power button, print preview, security, accounting, volume controls, numbers, house appliances, computer hardware, photo, video, weather, media controls, folders, file types, arrows, USB device, power button, memory card, and updates.
The only catch is that all icons are in 26×26 pixels but you can scale the icons using the EPS source given the pack. Don’t forget to create a system restore point, system image backup or custom Refresh PC image in Windows 8 before replacing default Windows and application icons.
