CAT: Reset Windows Settings, Services, And Permissions
Posted June 14, 2011 – 7:07 pm in: FreewareCrisis Aversion Tool (CAT) is a portable software for Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 to fix Windows errors and adjust various settings with ease. The software lets you reset a number of Windows settings, including permissions, default services, and Windows update to fix common Windows issues.
Fixes:
# Fix broken links inside applications
# Fix printer install errors
# Fix USB drives not displaying
# Fix Windows installer
# Flush DNS resolver cache
# Repair Internet Explorer browser
# Reset Windows Explorer shell
# Re-enable Task Manager
# Repair SSL/HTTP/Cryptographic services
# Reset all networking interfaces
# Reset permissions
# Reset default services start states
# Reset Windows updates
Adjustments:
# Decrease menu show delay time
# Enable Windows installer in safe mode
# Fix Flash player
# Fix shutdown
# System restore point manager
Other than the above mentioned fixes and settings, it also lets you take ownership of file or folder with a mouse click. You can also upload a file to the popular VirusTotal service right from CAT to check a suspicious file.
CAT also includes System Restore Manager which helps you create and delete restore points. If you can’t see one or more restore points under existing restore points list, please restart CAT with admin rights.
Please note that CAT is still in beta stage. So, you might encounter bugs while using this software. This is a freeware and supports both x86 and x64 versions of Windows.
