Resolving Windows boot errors might sound like an easy job but it’s not easy by any means. As you likely know, there are limited number of “working” software out there to deal with Windows boot records and partitions. Since boor errors don’t allow you boot into Windows operating system, you will have to use live CDs to fix these issues.
The name Easy Recovery Essentials or EasyRE may be an unknown to majority of Windows users but I am sure that many Windows users have used or at least have heard about EasyBCD software, the free for personal use tool which helps you deal with Windows boot records.

Easy Recovery Essentials or EasyRE is a live recovery CD from the developer of EasyBCD but usually isn’t free. The recovery CD is capable of repairing bootmgr, bcd, and various other boot time errors. In addition to that, it repairs issues with MBR, GPT, and other partition records. Easy Recovery Essentials is helpful to repair EFI boot loader errors as well.
Since EasyRE is available as an ISO file, you can create a bootable CD or bootable USB out of it. Once the bootable media is ready, you just need to boot from it and select appropriate options to begin the automatic diagnosis. As you can see, the user interface is easy to understand and navigate.
Besides that, it offers offline virus scanning, recover deleted partitions, and a graphical partition manager. To help you get additional details while using EasyRE, it comes with a web browser as well.
As said before, EasyRE isn’t a free software but the developer is offering EasyRE for Windows 10 for absolutely free as long as Windows 10 Technical Preview build is available for public. In other words, you can download EasyRE for free until Microsoft releases Consumer Preview or next major build of Windows 10, which might happen in March or April.
Note that users who download EasyRE for Windows 10 for free will be able to use it even after the RTM release of Windows 10. So don’t miss this opportunity. For those of you wondering, EasyRE for Windows 10 doesn’t work on Windows 7 or Windows 8. You need to purchase and download EasyRE for Windows 7 or EasyRE for Windows 8.
