When it comes to free online meeting and screen sharing services, Windows users have a lot of good services to choose from. Join.me is probably the best free screen sharing and meeting service after the popular and feature-rich TeamViewer.

The good news is that join.me metro-style app is now available for download from the Windows 8 Store. Computer users who are running Windows 8 can now install the join.me app to join online meetings. For those who aren’t familiar with join.me, it’s a fast, simple, and lightweight screen sharing software from the well-known LogMeIn, and available for Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS.

The free version of join.me offers internet calling, screen sharing, and supports up to 250 viewers.

Using the app is fairly simple. Open up Windows Store, install join.me, and you are done! Enter the nine-digit code or a personal link and click on the submit button to join a meeting or view someone else’s screen. Right-click on the screen to see conference call, chat, participants and exit options. The current version of the metro app doesn’t offer all the options available in the desktop version. For instance, you can’t start a meeting right from the app.

The app supports x86, x64, and ARM processors. Note that you need to upgrade to the Pro version to get advanced features such as window sharing, meeting lock, user management, meeting scheduler, and unified audio.

Even though the current version of the app doesn’t offer much and lacks many features, this is a must have app for Windows 8, especially if you are running Windows 8 on a tablet. Visit Windows 8 Store to install the app.
