Good news to all Windows and Microsoft Office lovers. Microsoft has just released the next version of its productivity suite Office 2013 (codenamed Office 15) to the public and is now ready for download. Office 2013, optimized for both touchscreen devices and traditional desktops, available as Office 365 Customer Preview, sports a Metro-inspired user interface and packs-in hundreds of new features.

Office 365 Customer Preview supports only Windows 8 and Windows 7 operating systems. Windows XP and Vista users can’t experience the newest version of Office on their machines.

Do note that you can install and experience Office 365 alongside your current Office installation. That is, if you are already running Office 2003, Office 2007 or Office 2010, you can install Office 365 without uninstalling the previous version.

Office 365 Customer Preview is currently available in four editions: Office 365 Home Premium, Office 365 Small Business Premium, Office 365 ProPlus, and Office 365 Enterprise. The Home Premium edition is currently available in limited number of countries. If your country is not listed, you can download a different edition of Office.

Office 365 Home Premium is the ideal edition for home users. The Home Premium includes Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OneNote, Access, Outlook, OneNote and Publisher. Microsoft  offers 7GB of online storage on SkyDrive with Home Premium so that you can save your documents in the cloud and access from anywhere.

A special OneNote app is also available exclusively for Windows 8. Before you proceed to the download page, make sure that your PC meets minimum system requirements.

Minimum system requirements:

# Processor: 1 Ghz or greater x86/x64 processor

# Memory: 1 GB RAM (32-bit), 2GB RAM (64-bit)

# Hard disk: 3.5 GB free disk space
