Kick start the download! Microsoft has made the availability of Service Pack 2 RC for Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 to public few hours back.

In addition to all previously released updates, SP2 for Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 will contain changes focused on supporting new types of hardware and adding support for several emerging standards.

The download size of SP2 RC for x86 Windows is 302MB, and for x64 is 508 MB. According to Brandon LeBlanc, final release of SP2 for Windows Vista & Windows Server 2008 will be done in the second quarter of 2009.

Microsoft released SP2 for Vista & Windows Server 2008 to TechNet and MSDN subscribers last week. And later, the Service Pack was leaked to the torrents. But you can now download from the Microsoft download center.

Service Pack 1 is a prerequisite for installing Service Pack 2. Please make sure that your system is running Service Pack 1 before you install Service Pack 2.
