Few minutes back I blogged about how to put back recycle bin on Vista desktop. In this post I will let you know how to fix corrupted Recycle Bin icon on Vista desktop. Vista recycle bin icon shows full bin even when it’s empty. If you want to get rid of this just follow the simple and small tutorial:
1. Go to the Vista installed drive (generally “C”).
2. Click on “Organize” button on the top left, select “Folder and Search options”.

Folder options in vista
3. Switch to “View” tab, scroll down, select the option named ” Show hidden files and folders” and deselect the option called ” Show protected operating system files” (make sure you click Apply button).
4. Now, in the Vista drive(C), locate the folder named “$Recycle.bin” and delete it permanently (use [Shift] + [Delete]).Don’t worry, Vista will recreate this folder once you reboot your machine.
5. Revert all the changes you have done in the above steps and restart your machine to see fresh recycle bin on your desktop.
