# Download and run System Update Readiness Tool. The System Update Readiness Tool can help fix problems that might prevent Windows updates and service packs from installing.

# Try to install the service pack now. If you are still getting the same Installation was not successful error follow method 2.

Method 2:

1. Close all programs, and then restart your computer.

2. After restarting, turn off all antivirus and antispyware programs that might run during the startup process.
