Format & Erase DVDs With Nero InCD Free
Posted April 14, 2010 – 4:51 pm in: FreewareNero is well known for its highly priced all-in-one burning software suites. We all hate these Nero 9 and Nero 10 because of their sizes, in fact most of us use free alternatives. Many users are still not aware of the fact that it does offer some useful free goodies to simplify our work.
Nero InCD is a free tool for Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 that allows you format your CDs/DVDs/Blue-ray discs so that they can be used as diskettes. Once installed, you can see a new tab named InCd under CD/DVD drive properties (right-click on CD/DVD drive and select properties). One can also launch In CD preferences window from its system tray icon.
Key features:
# Format disc with quick or full format
# Format the disc in the Mount Rainer format
# Know disc status and type
# View file system
# Read SecurDisc DVDs
# Duplicate metadata
# Erase rewritable disc (disc with RW specification)
Insert a disc that you want to see all options available in InCD tool. If you have formatting and writing access to the disc, you will see format, erase and options buttons at the bottom of the window.
Another advantage is that it reads the disc burnt using SecurDisc technology. All-in-all, a great free tool from Nero to manage your discs with ease. InCD tool can also access data in defective sectors of UDF file systems.
