FreeApps: A Better Alternative To Ninite
Posted December 26, 2011 – 10:09 pm in: FreewareEvery time we reinstall Windows, we have to install our favourite web browsers, Office suites, media players, system utilities and other software all over again. For most of us, downloading and installing tens of software one after another is a tedious task.
If you are looking for a better way to automatically download and install your favourite software, FreeApps is the right software for the job.
Users who haven’t used Ninite or other similar applications might be wondering how exactly this works. This is how it works: You visit FreeApps page, mark applications that you would like to install on your PC and then download a small installer. Upon running the installer, it will automatically download previously selected software and install them on your PC, silently.
FreeApps saves the time you would spend otherwise on downloading and installing all applications manually.
Both Ninite and FreeApps are quality applications. By default FreeApps download page recommends some selected software such as Best Video Downloader, Advanced System Care, Stream, VLC Media Player, Real Player, Flash Player, IObit Uninstaller, TeamSpeak, uTorrent, Mozilla Firefox, Mozilla Thunderbird, Foxit Reader, and WinRAR.
You can remove one or more apps and include new programs available at the download page. The only downside of FreeApps is that you need to have an account (free) with FreeApps to change the default list of included programs.
The download page lists over 100 popular free software in nine different categories. AVG Free Anti-Virus, Foxit Reader, AIMP, SumatraPDF, Defraggler, TeraCopy, Evernote, PC Wizard 2010, CDBurnerXP, 7-Zip, Dropbox, CPU-Z, Microsoft Security Essentials, Notepad++, OpenOffice, Winamp, KMPlayer, TeamViewer, Google Chrome, Paint.NET, GIMP, Game Booster are some of the most popular applications that can be installed using FreeApps.
Other than installing new applications, one can also use this free tool to update existing applications with a click.
Overall, a very useful, time-saving application for Windows. If you have never tried Ninite or FreeApps, we recommend you give them a try.
