Get Windows 7’s “Taskbar Shuffle” Feature In Vista & XP
Posted February 10, 2009 – 4:49 pm in: Vista Tweaks, XP TweaksAs you know, Microsoft has introduced several small but handy features in the Windows 7 operating system including Shuffle Taskbar buttons feature. This feature is similar to the Shuffle Tabs features in the modern web browsers.
If you like the taskbar shuffle feature and are not planning to install Windows 7 till the final release, then you can get this nifty feature in Vista and Windows XP by installing a small freeware named Taskbar Shuffle.
Taskbar Shuffle resides in system tray, and can be switched off/on from the tray itself. The behavior of the Taskbar Shuffle can be fine tuned by opening Settings option. You can also use middle-click to close task button/group, and “Enable tray icon shuffling by holding down this key" option for greater control.
Basically this software was introduced back in 2006, and works fine on Windows Vista/XP/2000/NT/95/98 operating systems. However, note that this tiny program is only for 32-bit Windows operating systems. You can’t use this on 64-bit Windows. Installer size is just 630KB and can be downloaded from the below link.

And now that Windows 7 is out, it still doesn’t offer the features that Taskbar Shuffle has had for years. It’s quite sad really, that this massive upgrade to the taskbar by one of the most well-funded corporations on earth still can’t conceive that users would want to rearrange within apps and not just across apps. And, because it was a complete rewrite, Taskbar Shuffle has been rendered ineffective.
