If you are a clutter free desktop lover, then you will love this tip as well. Have you ever tried to place Recycle Bin to the right side section of Windows Start menu? Probably, you might not have got success since Windows doesn’t allow the user to add Recycle Bin option to the Start menu (right-side) by default.

Recycle Bin In Start menu

Placing Recycle Bin option in Start menu is a good idea since we use Recycle Bin rarely. Though there is a tweak available to hide Recycle Bin, it’s not easy to do the hide/unhide task again and again. Note that Windows allows you to pin Recycle Bin to the Start menu, but can’t use as a link (Like Control Panel or Pictures links).

Using this guide you should be able to add Recycle Bin option to the Start menu (as a link) without any hassles.

Follow the below procedure to add Recycle Bin option to the Windows Start menu. You may want to backup your registry before tinkering with it in any way.

1. Download Recycle Bin.ZIP file (1.6KB) from here.

2. Extract the ZIP file to desktop to get a file named Recycle Bin (.reg).

3. Right-click on Recycle Bin (.reg) file and select Merge option.

4. Check the Start menu to see Recycle Bin link.

5. You are done!

This tweak works fine on Windows Vista only. This might not work in Windows 7 due to some issues. This tweak also adds Recycle Bin option to the Start menu Customization window so that you can enable/disable Recycle Bin link of the Start menu.

If you can’t see the Recycle Bin link in the Start menu, follow the below procedure:

Right-click on Start menu and click Customize. Locate the option named Recycle Bin from the long list. Deselect the checkbox named Recycle Bin and then click Apply. Again, follow the same procedure and check the Recycle Bin to get the option in Start menu. Thanks to albinohawk for posting this tip.

I can’t download Recycle Bin.ZIP file, while the tweakwindows.googlepages.com says: “The bandwidth or page view limit for this site has been exceeded and the page cannot be viewed at this time. Once the site is below the limit, it will once again begin serving as normal. “
