Are you a keyboard freak? If your answer is a big “Yes”, then this post is dedicated to you! We, keyboard frocks always like to know more shortcut ways to work with Windows or any other programs.

I know most of the Windows shortcut keys. I have even created shortcut keys to run any programs instantly. But the catch is, Windows doesn’t allow you add extra Windows key shortcuts. That is you can’t assign a hotkey like [Windows key] + [I] to open any program.

Winkey is a free handy utility that allows you create new Windows key shortcuts. Using this freeware you can create new shortcut keys to any programs or features. By default, Winkey assigns few Windows keys to drives and programs, but you can alter the settings with few clicks. By using this small utility I can now open Control Panel by just holding Winkey and C combination.

One better feature is, Winkey allows you run any program in restricted Windows like normal, minimized and maximized window. Winkey resides at the system tray, making easy to access the program to any modifications.

Winkey program runs with Windows at startup so that you can access the all new shortcuts once you login to Windows without manually running the program.

Why go through all that trouble? Why not use a program launcher designed for the keyboard freak.

I recommned SuperLauncher. I have tested most Windows launchers and I even like some but the problem with all launchers is that either they make it difficult to input new shortcuts or they go ahead and index my entire PC. The indexers do not support hotkeys, and the ones that do support hotkeys make me type in URLS, or browse my PC in order to add new shortcuts.
With SuperLauncher I drag and drop what I realize is becoming repetitive. I simply drag, drop, and either assign a hotkey or list it on the one-click popup menu. Plus I can group shortcuts which means I can open two folders for backup reasons, or I can open all the files that I need to complete a step-by-step procedure, all with one keystroke.
I guess I really love it because of the drag & drop. It is just simple like software should be. Overall it allows me to work fast, and I mean really fast.

I totally recommend it. You can find SuperLauncher at:

I used to use WinKey, but it had some issues in Vista x64. I looked for some alternatives and foudn HoeKey, which is miles better than WinKey was.

I’ve been using HoeKey for years! Are you serious? It works on Vista x64? This is good news. Another app that still works with Vista is 3d Clipboard. I’ve been using it since Windows 98. Still works like a charm, and I use it so much that I almost refuse to work without it.
