How To: Display Previous Logon Information In Windows 7 & Vista
Posted February 13, 2009 – 4:31 pm in: Vista Tweaks, Windows 7, Windows 7 GuidesThis tip will come in handy to find out unauthorized attempt to logon your PC or laptop. I have been using this tip for years to find out any logon attempt when I am away from my PC.
By default, Windows doesn’t give any logon attempt information when you login to Windows. You need to enable this feature in the Group Policy. Here is how.
1. Type in GPEDIT.MSC in Start menu search filed and hit enter to open Windows Group Policy Editor.
2. Once you open Group Policy Editor, navigate to the following keys:
Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Logon Options.
3. Locate the option named “Display Information about previous logons during user logon” and double-click on it.
4. Select the option Enabled and click on Apply button.
5. You are done!
Note: This tip works on Vista Ultimate and Enterprise editions only since other versions don’t come with a Group Policy Editor.
