The Windows Media Player jump list in taskbar displays ten frequently used files under “Frequent” list by default. The frequent list in the WMP jump list can be replaced with recently used files. That is, you will be shown recently used files in WMP jump list instead of the default frequent list.

In order to replace “Frequent list” with “Recent list”, you need to follow the steps given below:

1. Run Windows Media Player.

2. Go to Tools and the Options.

3. Under Player tab, enable the last option named Save recently used to the jump list instead of frequently used.

4. Click Apply and exit the WMP options.

5. Open WMP jump list in taskbar to view recent files now.

To revert to the default, just uncheck Save recently used to the jump list instead of frequently used.
