How To Get Windows 7 Media Player Look In Vista?
Posted December 9, 2008 – 1:53 pm in: Vista TweaksIt’s time to add one more post to our “Transform Vista into Windows 7” post. Vista users can now get Windows 7 media player look in their Windows Media Player 11(Vista).

As many of you know, there are many new features in Windows Media Player 12, you might not get all the feature but of course you will get the awesome sleek look in your Vista. Though, changing the look of Media Player requires replacement of system files, you can do it easily by following the below step-by-step procedure:
1. Backup your system or at least create a restore point to avoid any feature woes. Also don’t forget to close Media Player if running.
2. Next, jump to download page where you need to download modified system file.
3. Head to C:\Windows\System32 folder. Where “C” is your Vista (OS) drive.

4. Right click on wmploc.dll file and select Take Ownership option. Read “How to Take Ownership In Vista” if you can’t see Take Ownership option in the right-click context menu.
5. Now rename wmploc.dll file as wmplocold.dll. During this process Vista prompts confirmation message. Click “Continue” for the prompt.

6. Extract the downloaded file to desktop and paste the new WMPlOC.dll file to C:\Windows\System32 folder.
5. Go back to Desktop and run “settings.reg” and press Yes.

6. Finally, open your Windows Media Player to see the brand new Windows 7 look.
Thanks to Bogo-d for the new wmploc.dll file.
