How To: Hide Internet Explorer’s Search Box
Posted December 12, 2008 – 1:16 pm in: IE, Vista Tweaks, Windows 7, Windows 7 GuidesLike every popular Internet Browser Internet Explorer also comes with inbuilt Search function these days. It’s a great boon for some users to save time while same might be a bane for many users who like to have a clean browser tool bar. If you falls in the second category here is a small trick that helps you hide Internet Explorer’s search box, making browser’s toolbar clutter free.

Though you can edit registry manually, we will make the tweak easier by embedding the registry file, which when merged with Windows Registry, gives the required output. That is, after extracting the downloaded registry file to desktop, right-click on it and select merge option. Once you do that, just reboot your machine to see the change.
You can also put back search by merging Reverse file (download below).
