Posted December 3, 2009 – 5:34 pm in: Windows 7 GuidesUnlike earlier versions of Windows, Vista and Windows 7 come with preview pane feature that allows you preview most of the file types within the explorer.
You can use preview pane feature to view text files, documents, videos, audios and more (not all formats are supported). To preview a file, first you need to enable the preview pane in the explorer.
To enable the preview pane:
1. Open Windows explorer.
2. Go to Organize > Layout and then enable Preview pane option.
You can also enable/disable the Preview pane by using Alt + P keys or by clicking the preview button in the toolbar.
Once the preview pane is enabled, you are ready to preview most of the file types. To preview a file, simply select the file to see file preview in the right-side of the explorer.

To use the preview pane, there is an icon on the upper right side of the explorer. Using this icon you don’t have to navigate through the menu.
