We are not sure if Microsoft has started working on new screen savers for its upcoming Windows version, but Windows enthusiasts have been certainly working hard to create new apps, skins, and screen savers based on Windows 8 UI.
A deviantart member, dejco, has created beautiful Metro Clock screen saver for Windows 7 and Vista. The screen saver features Metro style clock and date with customizable backgrounds.
How to install and enable Metro Clock:
Step 1: Download the Metro Clock screen saver zip file and then extract the zip file to a new folder on desktop.
Step 2: Copy MetroClock.scr, Metro.reg, and MetroClock folder to C:\Windows\System32 folder.
Step 3: Double-click on the Metro.reg file to to merge into registry.
Step 4: You are done!
To set the newly installed Metro Clock as your default screen saver:
Step 1: Right-click on desktop and select Personalize.
Step 2: On Personalization window, click Screen Saver to launch Screen Saver Settings.
Step 3: Under Screen Saver box, Select MetroClock from the drop down list and click Apply button to set it as default.
To add new wallpapers to MetroClock screen saver:
Step 1: Copy all wallpapers to Background folder in MetroClock (C:\Windows\System32\MetroClock\Background)
Step 2: To change text position, time format, and background image change speed, please run EditSettings.exe file in MetroClock folder.
When the screen saver is running press Esc key or Ctrl + Alt + Del keys to go back to desktop.
