SyncToy is a free tool for XP, Vista and Windows 7 to sync, copy and backup files on your PC. The free sync tool from Microsoft is extremely easy-to-use, just like any other software from Microsoft.
The tool lets you setup a sync operation in just three steps. In the first step, you will be asked to select left (source) and right folder (destination), and then you need to select the sync option from the available three in the second step:
# Synchronize- New and updated files are copied both ways. Renames and deletes on either side are repeated on the other.
# Echo- New and updated files are copied left to right. Renames and deletes on the let are repeated on the right
# Contribute- New and updated files are copied left to right. Renames on the left are repeated on the right. No deletions.
Enter a name for your folder pair that you have created to finish creating a folder pair. Once done with folder pair, you can configure and preview sync settings before hitting the run button. Other than above mentioned features, it also enables you to include or exclude a file type from Synching.
Use the Exclude hidden files option to exclude hidden file during sync operations. The tool also lets you save multiple folder pairs (left and right folders) so that you can quickly start the operation.
