Microsoft To Release Critical Rated Update For Internet Explorer On July 28
Posted July 25, 2009 – 10:30 pm in: Software UpdatesMicrosoft is ready to release a critical rated update for Internet Explorer & another moderate rated update for Visual Studio on Tuesday, July 28, 2009.
One bulletin will be for the Microsoft Visual Studio product line; application developers should be aware of updates available affecting certain types of applications. The second bulletin contains defense-in-depth changes to Internet Explorer to address attack vectors related to the Visual Studio bulletin, as well as fixes for unrelated vulnerabilities that are rated Critical.
However, customers who are up to date on their security updates are protected from known attacks related to this out-of-band release.
This Internet Explorer vulnerability is rated as critical for Windows 2000 SP4, Windows XP SP2 & SP3 (IE6, IE 7, IE8), XP Professional x64 edition SP2 (IE6, IE 7, IE8), Windows Vista SP1 & SP2 (IE 7, IE
and Windows Vista x64 edition SP1& SP2(IE 7, IE 8).
Windows Server 2003 & Server 2008 operating systems comes under moderate aggregate severity rating. No information available whether Windows 7 is affected or not.
