Windows Registry is a great place to take full control of you PC and fine tune system settings to get the most out of Windows or any other application. If you frequently use the default Registry Editor to edit or create registry keys, then you probably have come across “Cannot create key” error while creating a new registry key.
If you are getting “Cannot create key: You do not have the requisite permission to create a new key” error while creating a new registry key, you should try RegOwnit utility. RegOwnit is a portable utility, developed by our friends at TWC, to easily take full control of a registry key.
Select the registry location that you want to edit, user account, and type of permission you want to apply to a registry key. You can also directly enter a full registry key path in the Registry Address box to quickly apply the control.
We recommend creating a registry backup before changing the default registry values. If you don’t want to manually edit Windows Registry, check out our list of 55 free tweaking utilities to fine tune Windows 7 OS.
RegOwnit supports both x86 and x64 versions of Windows 7. It should also work fine on XP and Vista OSs.
