The default Send To menu in Windows, which appears when you right-click on a file, folder or any other item, is very useful to quickly send a file/folder from your PC to an external drive or device. Though one can view additional locations in Send To menu by holding the Shift key while right-clicking on files or folder, for some reason, Microsoft hasn’t included an option to customize the default locations in the send to menu by adding or removing new locations. One needs to open up the SendTo folder located in C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows to add or remove locations.
As manually adding new locations is a tedious task, Windows enthusiasts have developed utilities to help you personalize the Send To menu. In the past, we covered about a free tool named Send To Toys to add new locations to the menu. This time around, we have a better tool to share with you.
Send To Other Location is a small extension for Send To menu which lets you send a file/folder to any location without adding new locations to the Send To menu list. When you install the extension, it will add Send To Other Location option to the Send To menu.
Selecting the Send To Other Location option in the Send Menu opens a small box which lets you browse the drive/folder where you want to send the file/folder. You can also move the file from one location to another using this option. The best thing about this extension is that it doesn’t clutter the default Send To menu by adding new locations. Simply right-click on a file, click Send To option and then click Send To Other Location to browse to the location where you wish to send the selected file(s).
When the Send To Other Location box is open, you can also drag and drop file/folder to copy/move the file.
Send To Other Location is compatible with all recent versions of Windows, including Windows 7 and Windows 8.
