As promised earlier this month, Microsoft has released Service Pack 1 RTM for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, and is now available to download from the official download center. The Service Pack 1 RTM was first released to Microsoft TechNet and MSDN subscribers just a week ago.

Windows 7 SP1 Download

The Service Pack for Windows 7 doesn’t bring major new features to the fastest selling Windows operating system in history. And, if you have installed SP1 Release Candidate (RC) build, you need to uninstall it before installing the RTM.

Also note that users who have recovered lost disk space after installing SP1 RC will have to reinstall Windows 7 to be able to install the final build.

You might also want to slipstream Windows 7 Service Pack 1 into installation DVD or ISO.

why do I need to pay for an update from windows vista home premium to windows 7 home premium?
it should be totally free upgrade! when I bought the laptop, vista was pre-installed in it.
I think is not fair for the users who got the laptop with vista as we all know it was the worst windows ever and we got stuck with it.
