With Remote Desktop Connection, you can access a computer running Windows from another computer running Windows that is connected to the same network or to the Internet. For example, you can use all of your work computer’s programs, files, and network resources from your home computer, and it’s just like you’re sitting in front of your computer at work.
If you are not using this feature of Vista, it’s better to remove this since this service can eat up enough system resources while it’s working.
You can remove this feature as follows:
1. Type in appwiz.cpl in the Start menu search box and hit enter.
2. In the Programs and features window, open Turn Windows features on or off to proceed to Windows Features page where the feature to be removed.
3. Scroll down and uncheck the box named Remote Differential Compression and click OK.

This is false. RDC is an algorithm, and is contained in a DLL.
From http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa373254(VS.85).aspx
“End users should not disable RDC. RDC is a dynamic-link library (DLL) that does not consume any system resources, except when you run an application that uses RDC specifically.”
Windows Update, Remote Desktop, and file copy operations don’t use RDC at all.
