Windows 7 Beta May Corrupt Your Data, Download Hotfix Now
Posted April 1, 2009 – 12:09 am in: Windows 7, Windows 7 GuidesMicrosoft has recently warned that Windows 7 beta (build 7000) may corrupt your crucial data, especially, if you are using computers from Lenovo and HP.
The software giant also stated that the data corruption issue is only associated with Windows 7 beta (build 700), no such issues were detected with the other milestones such as Windows 7 Build 7048, 7057 or recently leaked Build 7068.
The data-corruption issue occurs because of interaction between the Offline Files component and certain storage drivers. These include the following Intel storage drivers: Iastor.sys & Iastorv.sys. These storage drivers are frequently found on the Lenovo T60p, on the Lenovo T61p, and on some HP portable computers.
The data corruption issue is associated with both the 32-bit and the 64-bit variants of Windows 7 build 7000 (beta) and Microsoft has released a hotfix to fix this issue.
