Windows 7 Secrete Feature: Windows XP Mode
Posted April 25, 2009 – 9:24 am in: Windows 7As you probably know, Microsoft had announced that there will be some additional features in Windows 7 , which was kept secret by Microsoft. Paul Thurrott’s Windows SuperSite (Thanks to Paul Thurrott for this excellent work) has revealed the secrete for the first time and the feature is Windows XP Mode.
As the name suggests, XP Mode consists of the Virtual PC-based virtual environment and a fully licensed copy of Windows XP with Service Pack 3 (SP3). It will be made available, for free, to users of Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise, and Ultimate editions via a download from the Microsoft web site. (That is, it will not be included in the box with Windows 7, but is considered an out-of-band update, like Windows Live Essentials.)
You can read more about this brilliant feature at Windows Supersite.
