Windows 7 Supports Up To 192 GB Of RAM!!!
Posted August 13, 2009 – 1:37 pm in: Windows 7Have you ever thought about the maximum amount of RAM supported by Windows 7? Although most of the users are happy with 2 or 4 GB RAM there are some enthusiasts who have been running with 8GB RAM.
Though Windows 7 runs smoothly on recommended 1GB of RAM (see Windows 7 hardware requirements) it can support up to a mammoth of 192 GB! Shocked? Yup, this is true as well.
With Windows Vista the amount was 128 GB. So the difference between Windows 7 and Vista is 64 GB. However note that Windows 7 x86 OS can’t detect more than 3.5 GB of RAM. So, if you like to make use of the 4GB+ RAM, you have to go for x64 Windows 7. Like in the case of Vista, Windows 7 Home Basic x64 can deal with only 8 GB of RAM. High-end editions such as Windows 7 Home Premium, Enterprise, and Ultimate editions can support as much as 192GB!
