Posted October 16, 2011 – 9:35 am in: XP TweaksIn the past, we covered a step-by-step tutorial to get the all new Windows 8 Start screen in Windows 7 with the help of Rainmeter software. We also showed you how to set the new Metro Start screen as web browser home page.
Today, we going to share a free tool and skin to get Windows 8 Start screen not only in Windows 7 but also in XP and Vista as well. Another Windows 8 Start Screen is a theme for popular AveDesk desktop enhancement software that enables Metro Start screen with tiles.
The best thing about this tool is that it’s very low on system resources(less than 10 MB RAM). But the only catch is that to be able to run this, you first need to install AveDesk software (free).
Here is how to install and enable Windows 8 Start Screen in XP, Vista and Windows 7:
Step 1: Visit this page and download Another Windows 8 Start screen RAR file. Extract the file using WinRAR or 7-zip software on to the desktop to get AveDesk13 folder.
Step 2: Download AveDesk software zip file from here and extract it to a folder to get AVEDESK.exe file.
Step 3: Now copy avedesk.exe file to AveDesk13 folder and run avedesk.exe file to launch the new Metro Start screen in XP, Vista, and Windows 7. You can also load the theme by right-clicking on AveDesk icon in system tray and then themes > load option.
