While majority of Windows users prefer third-party media players, a small number of users love the default Windows Media Player (WMP) for it’s beautiful user interface and brilliant library. The problem is that WMP has limited features and there are very few utilities available to customize the default look of WMP.
Remember WMP12 Library Background Changer? The tool that allowed you customize Windows Media Player in Windows 7 by changing the default library background picture with a custom one. The developer of WMP12 Library Background Changer has just updated the software to add support for WMP in Windows 8. The tool now fully supports Windows 8, both x86 and x64 systems.
The tool edits Wmploc.dll file and replaces the default library picture with your picture. Even though the utility lets you revert to the original library background with a click, it’s a good idea to create a system restore point before making any changes to system files.
How to use WMP 12 Background Changer:
Step 1: Download WMP12 Library Background Changer zip file from here. Extract the zip file contents to see Windows8Native folder.
Please note that you need to close Windows Media Player before running the tool.
Step 2: Open up Windows8Native folder, right-click wmplibbg.exe file, and then select Run as administrator option. Click (or tap) on the Replace button to browse to the image file that you wish to set as WMP library background. Select your image file and click or tap Open button to replace the default image. The tool supports JPEG and PNG formats.
Step 3: You can also replace the default library background with your current wallpaper by clicking (or tapping) Replace with wallpaper button. Use Restore button to revert to the original background image.
