There are tens of free and paid to-do list apps out there for all major mobile operating systems. While there are a couple of good programs out there for Windows operating system as well, most of the popular to do list apps out there for mobile operating systems haven’t made their entry into Windows Store yet.
Wunderlist for Windows
While there are a couple of to-do apps available in the Windows Store for Windows 10/8.1, almost all of them lack the quality interface that we have seen in apps available for mobiles.
Luckily, the first beta version of Wunderlist app has been released to Windows Store. PC users who’re running latest iteration of Windows operating system can now visit the official Store to install the app.
Wunderlist app features
For those who haven’t tried Wunderlist yet, it’s a popular to-do list in the mobile world. Up until now, this beautiful Wunderlist app was available for Mac, iOS, Kindle Fire, Chromebook, and Android only. With this release, Windows 8/8.1 users now have one of the best in class list managing app in the Store. Interestingly, along with the release for Windows 8/8.1, a version of the app has also been released for Windows Phone.
To start with, unlike most others to-do list managers out there for Windows, Wunderlist is an elegant to-do list manager. The app, which requires you create an account (free) in order to use it, syncs your to-do list across multiple devices in real time for free.
The impressive feature of Wunderlist is that you can change its default background. As of now, you need to choose one of the twenty background pictures (thirty in the Pro) available and there is no option to choose a custom picture as background. In order to change the current background, open Charms bar, click Settings, and then click Background to see all available backgrounds.
The other handy feature is that you can add notes and comments to a list. The feature is especially handy if you have shared a list with someone and want them to leave a comment so that you can edit the list accordingly.
The free version of Wunderlist lets you add photos and almost anything of size up to 5 MB (per file) to a to-do list, and you can create up to a maximum of 25 subtasks per to-do list.
In our test, noticed that the live tile feature is either not available or doesn’t work in the current version. That said, the app is still in Beta stage and may include many more features and improvements by the time we get to see the first major release.
If you have been using the mobile version of the app on your smartphone, you’ll find the interface very familiar to use. All in all, a fantastic to-do list app for Windows 10/8.1. The free version of Wunderlist is sufficient for most home users and includes all the features that you would expect in a good to-do list app.
