Generally Windows users use the context menu or right-click menu to open a file, delete or rename a file, check file properties, quickly copy and move a file. Over the years, a number of free programs have been released to enhance the context menu by adding new features.
We have shown how to set as logon screen background option to context menu, change folder icon and color from context menu, and shown how to add various other options to the context menu with the help of third-party tools such as Right Click Extender.
This time around, we have a very special shell extension that lets you view and convert photos right from the context menu. The name of the shell extension that we are talking here is XnView.
XnView is a handy extension for Windows explorer to view, edit, rotate and resize images right from the context menu (right-click menu) without having to run your image editing software. In other words, you need not to open an image editor to view the resolution of the picture, size of the picture and also convert the picture.
By installing XnView extension one can preview picture, picture name, size, resolution in the right-click menu itself. Other than that, it also displays Convert, Rotate, Edit IPTC, Send to ImageShack options in the context menu.
You can personalize the list of options to be displayed in the context menu under Options. And if you don’t want to have a clutter-free context menu, select the Sub-menu options to view all options in a submenu.
Displayed context menu items:
# Thumbnail (image)
# File size
# Image resolution
# Set wallpaper as
# File’s icon
# Edit IPTC
# Copy to clipboard
# Send to ImageShack
