In Windows 8, when you log on, you first see the Start screen instead of the legacy desktop. While I don’t mind clicking Desktop tile or pressing Windows key to switch to the desktop mode, a lot Windows users would like to see the desktop first.
Most of Windows users who have installed Windows 8 on a desktop and notebook are use legacy desktop programs most of the time, if not all the time. So, forcing Windows 8 to skip the Start screen during the sign-in is a good idea.
There have been quite a few tools available to skip or bypass the Start screen. Classic Shell, StartMenu8, Start8 and Skip Metro Suite are to name a few. While most of these tools help you skip the Start screen, Windows does show the Start screen for a split second. In other words, you see the Start screen for a second before moving on to the desktop. So most of these tools don’t offer perfect workaround to skip the Start screen.
Users who would like to see desktop and skip the Start screen during the logon should check out Bypass Modern UI tool. Unlike some other tools, Bypass Modern UI doesn’t modify any files and offers the cleanest solution to bypass the Modern UI during the sign-in. The highlight of this program is that you don’t see the Start screen even for a millisecond!
Using this tool is straight-forward too. You just need to download, install, and restart your PC. Note that the Bypass Modern UI zip file contains separate installers for 32-bit and 64-bit Windows. Make sure you run the right version.
Please note that Restore function present in Bypass Modern UI tool might not work. So, we recommend you create a system restore point before using this tool. In some cases, you might need to reboot your PC more than once to take effect.
