Amazon Alexa is a digital assistant developed by Amazon. As of now, Alexa is being used in the Amazon Echo and Echo Dot smart speakers. The Alexa can help you set a reminder, get the latest news, weather reports, play music, and make to-do lists.
In addition to Amazon’s smart speakers, Alexa is available for iOS, Android, and Windows OS as well. While iOS and Android users can get it from their respective stores, there is no official way to download Alexa for Windows OS.
As of now, Amazon Alexa is being shipped with select HP, Lenovo, Asus and Acer laptops. In short, Alexa app is out there for PC but not officially available for download to everyone.
If you have tried Alexa on your smartphone or smart speaker and love this new virtual assistant, you can get it on your Windows 10 PC as well. But since it’s not officially available to everyone, you need to download the Alexa setup from the unofficial source.
Before you install, please remember that you will need to sign-in to the Alexa app using your Amazon account in order to use the Alexa.
Windows 10 users might not want to install the Alexa as there is a built-in virtual assistant called Cortana in Windows 10. As you likely know, Cortana can do much more than Alexa on a PC. That said, Alexa is not far behind. In our test, it worked flawlessly and left us impressed.

Using Amazon Alexa on Windows 10 PC
You need to click the blue Alexa button on the app to begin using Alexa on your PC and commands to wake up Alexa won’t work.
That said, you can use Ctrl + Shift + A hotkey to wake up Alexa even if it’s running in the background (running in system tray) or minimized.
When you close the Alexa by clicking the close button, Alexa is moved to the tray (you can wake up Alexa when it’s in system tray with the help of Ctrl + Shift + A). Click on the hamburger icon to access settings, quit the app and sign out of your Amazon account.
