The built-in Photos app was a below-average picture viewer when it was launched with Windows 10. The Photos app was slow to open, UI was not impressive, and occasionally it would crash soon after the launch like many other built-in apps.
The Photos app has received several major updates over the past two and half years since the release of Windows 10. Microsoft has turned around this app, and it’s now easily the best photo viewer out there for Windows 10.
In addition to photo viewing, editing and enhancing capacities, the Photos app now supports video editing as well. You can add slow-motion effects to videos, trim videos and draw on videos in a jiffy.
Photos Add-on for Photos app
You can even create your own videos from videos and pictures on your PC. You can add themes, filters, and effects to the video with Photos app.
Microsoft seems to be really serious about its Photos app. Microsoft has released a Photos Add-on for the Photos app and is now available for download. Some users are also reporting that Microsoft is automatically installing the app on Windows 10 PCs without their consent!
The Photos Add-on is intended to add new features to the Photos app. According to the information available on Windows Store, the Photos Add-on offers new ways to enhance your videos. It brings more music and themes, to be precise.
As said, Microsoft seems to be automatically installing Photos Add-on on all PCs running the latest version of Windows 10, which is version 1709 for now. If you cannot wait, visit this Photos Add-on page on the Store to install the Photos Add-on app.
We are not sure why Microsoft decided to offer the new features in an Add-on instead of adding them directly to the Photos app by updating the same.
