Microsoft has just released the Microsoft Device Center application for Windows 8 and is now available for all Microsoft keyboard and mouse users. Microsoft Device Center is a free application that lets you easily personalize and customize your Microsoft keyboard and mouse.
Microsoft Device Center combines Microsoft’s mouse software and keyboard software into one simple application. This brilliant application is all you need to modify your mouse and keyboard settings. One can view and change basic and application-specific settings for all connected devices from one place. For instance, you can customize keyboard shortcuts to perform command tasks such as opening Mail, or documents.
Upon installing and launching the program, it will scan and detect your mouse and keyboard. It will then allow you to modify, remap, tweak mouse, and keyboard buttons. For instance, if you have connected Microsoft Wireless Comfort Desktop 5000 keyboard, Device Center offers options to modify documents, pictures, web/home, mail, play/pause, previous track, next track, undo, redo, help, media, open, close and many other hotkeys.
You can also assign application-specific settings. That is, you can assign hotkeys to perform different commands in different programs. For example, you can assign the popular Ctrl + C shortcut to run a macro in game, play or pause when in Windows Media Player, and open a new tab in Internet Explorer browser.
Besides, it will also help you explore all features of your hardware with pop-up descriptive and how-to tips. This application also includes access to an online troubleshooting library and a healthy computing guide.
Separate installers are available for both x86 and x64 versions of Windows 8. Be sure to download the correct version. Again, download and install this software only if you are using a Microsoft device.
