Good news to all Windows 7 and Windows 8 users who have been eagerly waiting to install the final version of Office 2013 on their PCs. Microsoft has just released Office 2013 RTM to TechNet and MSDN subscribers, and subscribers can now log in to MSDN or TechNet to start downloading the newest version of Office.
Office 2013 gets a flatter Ribbon interface and looks elegant. Unlike in previous versions, you get a Start screen upon launching Office 2013. The Start screen (it’s different than the one on Windows 8/8.1) displays available templates and allows you quickly view and open recently created/edited documents. OneDrive (previously called SkyDrive) integration, support for PDF viewing and editing, and support for touchscreen are some of the major features introduced with Office 2013.
The download size of Office Professional Plus 2013 (x86) is 667 MB and the x64 version is 769 MB.
Please note that Office 2013 can only be installed on Windows 7 and Windows 8 operating systems. Users who are running Windows XP and Vista need to upgrade to either Windows 7 or Windows 8 to install the new Office.
If you are not an MSDN or TechNet subscriber and have plans to purchase an Office 2013 copy, we suggest you check out the Office 2013 free upgrade offer article to upgrade from Office 2010 to Office 2013 for free.
And if you haven’t tried Office 2013 yet, we suggest you download Office 2013 preview copy now.
It’s worth noting that one can also subscribe to Office 365 instead of buying Office 2013 copy as Office 365 will be continuously updated and will get Office 365 for no additional cost when it is made available.
