How To Uninstall Windows 10 Anniversary Update

Many users who have installed Windows 10 Anniversary Update have been complaining about a variety of issues. Although most users are happy with Windows 10 Anniversary Update, a few users have been complaining about errors and issues.

Important: Windows 10 gives just ten days to roll back to the previous build. That is, to uninstall the Anniversary Update, you have only ten days after installing the Anniversary Update.

Method 1 of 2

Uninstall Windows 10 Anniversary update via Settings

Step 1: Navigate to Settings > Update & security > Recovery.

Step 2: Under Go back to an earlier build section, click the Get started button.

Step 3: If you’re asked, provide feedback on why you’re uninstalling Anniversary Update and going back to the previous build of Windows 10.

Step 4: If you see the Check for updates? Screen, click No, thanks button to proceed further.

Step 5: At the What you need to know screen, click the Next button.

Step 6: Next, you will see Don’t get locked out screen with “If you used a password to sign in to your previous build, make sure you know it” message. Put simply, if you used a different password for your account before installing Anniversary Update, make sure you remember it. The new password (if set after installing Anniversary Update) can’t be used to sign in to your previous build.

Step 7: Finally, click Go back to the earlier build button to restart your PC and begin restoring your previous build of Windows 10.

Uninstall Windows 10 Anniversary Update via Advanced options

Use these instructions if your Windows 10 PC is not booting after installing the Anniversary Update.

Step 2: At the Advanced options screen, click See more recovery options.

Step 3: Click Go back to the previous build.

Step 4: Select the Administrator account that you use and know the password.

Step 5: Enter the password for the selected account and then click the continue button.

Step 6: Finally, click Go back to the previous build option to begin restoring your last build of Windows 10.
