3 Ways To View Recently Closed Tabs In Google Chrome

Be it computers or smartphones, Google Chrome has been the undisputed king of web browsers for close to a decade now.

Creating and closing tabs are part of web browsing. One can create a new tab in Chrome either by clicking on the small plus button next to the current tab or with the help of the Ctrl + T hotkey (Command + T on Mac). Similarly, a tab can be closed by clicking on the close button or using Ctrl + W (Command + W on Mac) hotkey.

While browsing the web on Google Chrome, after closing a few tabs accidentally, you might want to view recently closed tabs.

This guide will show you how to view recently closed tabs and also how to restore recently closed tabs.

View recently closed Google Chrome tabs in Windows & Mac

Note that these directions are valid for Google Chrome on both Windows and Mac.

Step 1: In the Chrome browser, click o the three vertically stacked dots (refer to the picture below) and then click History.

Step 2: Clicking or selecting History will show all recently closed tabs. The one at the top of the list is the most recently closed one. Click on it to restore the same.

Another way to view recently closed tabs in Chrome (Windows)

You do not need to open the Chrome browser to view recently closed tabs. The taskbar jump list shows recently closed tabs in addition to most visited webpages. To view recently closed tabs:

Step 1: Perform a right-click on the Chrome icon on the taskbar to see the jump list.

Step 2: The Recently closed section displays recently closed tabs. The only downside is that the list shows up to three recently closed tabs only.

View recently closed tabs in Chrome (iPhone & iPad)

Since the Google Chrome browser is popular among iOS users as well, here is how to view recently closed Chrome tabs on iPhone and iPad.

Step 1: In the Chrome browser, tap the menu icon (three dots) and tap Recent Tabs.

Step 2: The list shows all recently closed tabs. To reopen a closed tab, tap on it. That’s it!

View & restore recently closed Chrome tabs using a keyboard shortcut in Windows & Mac

Like other web browsers, Chrome also supports restoring recently closed with Ctrl + Shift + Tab (Command + Shift + Tab on Mac) keyboard shortcut. You can use the keyboard shortcut multiple times to restore all recently closed tabs.

Step 1: Click on the menu icon and then click/select History.

Step 2: The Recently closed section shows all recently closed tabs.

Step 3: To restore or reopen a recently closed tab, click on its entry.
