How To Set Bing As Default Search Engine In Safari On Mac

Last Updated on March 8, 2024 by admin Leave a Comment

Safari is the default web browser on Macs. A significant number of Mac users use Safari as their default web browser as it offers better privacy, uses less resources, and comes with most of the features available in its competitors such as Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome.

Safari, like other web browsers, lets you search the internet right from the address bar. That is, to search the internet, you just have to type the query in the address bar of Safari and then press the Enter key.

With default settings, Safari browser uses Google as the default search engine. While most users prefer Google over Bing and other search engines, some users like Bing search from Microsoft.

If you are also a Bing search user, you might want to set Bing search as the default search engine in the Safari browser on your Mac. Here is how to do that.

Set Bing as the default search engine in Safari on Mac

Step 1: Open the Safari browser. Click the Safari menu and then click Settings to open Safari settings.

Step 2: Switch to the Search tab.

Step 3: Here, select Bing from the drop-down next to the Search engine.

That’s it! From now onwards, when you search for something using Safari, it uses Bing search instead of Google.

NOTE: As you can see in the picture above, by default, Safari uses the default search engine in the private browsing mode. For instance, if you have set Bing as the default search engine, it will be used in the private browsing mode as well. However, if you wish to have search engines for regular and private modes, select a search engine from the drop-down menu next to the Private Browsing search engine.
