Microsoft has deprecated several Windows apps and features over the past few years. Windows Fax and Scan, Windows Media Player (Legacy), WordPad, and Paint 3D are some of the apps that are no longer available in Windows 11.
While Windows Fax and Scan and Windows Media Player can be installed as optional features from within the Settings app, Microsoft no longer offers an official way to install the Paint 3D app, as Paint 3D has been removed from the Microsoft Store as well.
While there is no official way to download and install the Paint 3D app, Windows users who love the app have uploaded it to GitHub, allowing interested users to download and install it.
As you likely know, the Paint 3D app is designed to help Windows users create and edit 3D objects. This beginner-friendly app is one of the best free tools available for creating 3D objects.
If you like the Paint 3D app, you can get it from the Microsoft Store. Here is how to install the Paint 3D app from GitHub on a Windows 11 PC.
Download and install Paint 3D in Windows 11 without Microsoft Store
Step 1: Visit this GitHub link to download the Paint 3D installer. It’s about 65 MB in size.
Step 2: Run the Paint 3D installer file and then click the Install button when you see the prompt to download and install it.
Step 3: You may now launch the Paint 3D app using the Start menu or taskbar search.
Download and install the Paint 3D app from the Microsoft Store in Windows 11
NOTE: This method is no longer effective, as Microsoft removed the Paint 3D app from the Microsoft Store on November 4, 2024.
Step 1: Use the search to launch the Microsoft Store app.
Step 2: Once the Store app is open, type Paint 3D in its search box to see the Microsoft Paint 3D entry in the search results.
Step 3: Click the Paint 3D tile to open the dedicated page.
Step 4: Finally, click the Get/Install button to download and install the Paint 3D app.
Post installation, you may use the search to launch the Paint 3D app.
Uninstall Paint 3D from Windows 11 installation
Step 1: Go to Windows 11 Settings > Apps > Installed apps page.
Step 2: Ensure that the list view is selected by clicking on its icon (located top right of the page).
Step 3: Scroll down the page to see the Paint 3D entry. Click the three dots next to it and then click Uninstall.
Step 4: When asked for confirmation, click the Uninstall button to uninstall and remove Paint 3D from Windows 11.
