Printer and scanner manufacturers offer their own software for printing and scanning. While it’s true that Windows includes built-in software, such as Windows Fax and Scan, for scanning without the manufacturer’s software, many users prefer the manufacturer’s software for the best results.
Just like how HP provides an app called HP Smart, Canon offers a dedicated app labelled Canon Print for Windows.
The Canon Print app not only lets you print and scan documents and pictures but also lets you view and change several printer/scanner settings. Additionally, it can also be used to check the Canon printer ink levels.
If you have also installed the Canon Print app on your Windows 11 PC and use it very often, you might want to create a shortcut to it on your desktop for quick and easy access.
This guide shows you how to create a shortcut of the Canon Print app on your Windows 11 desktop.
Add the Canon Print app shortcut icon to the Windows 11 desktop
Step 1: Launch the Canon Print app using search.
If you have not installed it yet, you may install it from the Microsoft Store. Simply launch the Store app, search for Canon Print, and then click the Get/Install button to download and install the app.
Step 2: Once the Canon Print app is launched, right-click its taskbar icon to see the menu (called jump list).
Step 3: Hold down the Shift key, right-click the Canon Print title in the menu (refer to the picture below), and then click the Create Shortcut option.
If the Create Shortcut option does not show up, it’s most likely because you did not hold the Shift key while right-clicking on the Canon Print entry in the menu.
Step 4: When you get the “Windows cannot create shortcut here. Do you want the shortcut to be placed on the desktop instead?” message, click the Yes button to create the Canon Print app shortcut icon on the desktop immediately.
You may now double-click the Canon Print shortcut icon on the desktop to open it. If you ever want to delete it, right-click it and then click delete.
