Ever since Microsoft introduced its AI chatbot Copilot to the Edge browser, a Copilot icon has been sitting in the Edge toolbar. Clicking the Copilot Chat icon reveals the Copilot panel, where you can start the chat.
Because a good number of users now use AI instead of traditional search engines, the Copilot Chat icon in the Edge browser is helpful. However, users of other AI chatbots, such as ChatGPT and Google Gemini, might want to remove or hide the Copilot Chat icon in the Edge browser.
While hiding the Copilot Chat icon was not an easy job during the initial days of its launch, the recent versions of the Edge browser offer an option to hide the Copilot Chat icon.
Complete the directions given below to hide the Copilot Chat icon from Edge in Windows 11.
Please note that this method only hides the Copilot icon from the Edge toolbar and does not turn off the feature. You can still access the Copilot chat panel with Ctrl + Shift + . keyboard shortcut. Additionally, the Summarize with Copilot option, when you right-click on a webpage, continues to appear as before.
Hide the Copilot Chat icon from Edge in Windows 11
Step 1: In the Edge browser, right-click the Copilot Chat icon and then click the Hide Copilot option.
Step 2: In the resulting settings page, click the toggle icon next to the Show Copilot button on the toolbar option to hide and remove the Copilot Chat button from the Edge toolbar.

Step 1: Click the menu icon on the Edge toolbar and then click Settings to open the Edge settings page.
Step 2: Here, on the left pane, click Appearance. On the right side, scroll down to see Copilot and the sidebar. Click on it.
Step 3: Under the App specific settings section, click Copilot.
Step 4: Finally, turn on the Show Copilot button on the toolbar option to add the Copilot Chat button to the Edge toolbar again.
