How To Add Print Option To File Context Menu In Windows 11 File Explorer

Last Updated on October 30, 2026 by admin Leave a Comment

With Windows 11, Microsoft introduced a new file context menu (the menu that appears when you right-click a file or folder) in File Explorer. While the new context menu is clean and modern, it is slower than the classic context menu and lacks a few important options.

Unlike the classic context menu, the modern file context menu in Windows 11 does not show the Print option. Because of this, when you need to print a picture or document, you need to open the file in a supported app and then click the File menu and then the Print option, or press Ctrl + P to open the print dialog.

Most users are not happy with the performance of the modern context menu introduced with Windows 11. Although Microsoft has improved the speed over the past few years, at times, it still stutters and takes time to open. Moreover, many users are demanding an option to customize the context menu so that they can keep only the option they need and use.

The team behind Windows 11 has released an update (KB5127936) which, when installed, allows you to customize the Windows 11 context menu right from Settings without using additional software. While users cannot add or remove all default options, you can add some helpful options like Print that are missing by default.

Here is how to add the Print option to the new file context menu in Windows 11.

Method 1 of 2

Add Print option to Windows 11 right-click menu (context menu)

Step 1: Open Windows 11 Settings using search or the Windows logo + E keyboard shortcut.

Step 2: On the left pane of the Settings app, click Personalization. Now, on the right side, click Context menu.

NOTE: If the Context menu does not appear, it’s likely because the update KB5127936 is not installed on your PC or the feature is not enabled on your PC yet, as it’s a gradual rollout.

Step 3: Here, in the File Actions section, turn on the Print option (refer to the picture below) to add the Print option to the new file context menu. That’s it! From now on, Windows 11 shows a Print option whenever you right-click a document or picture file.
