Windows Accessories Folder Missing From Start Menu In Windows 10

Last Updated on March 4, 2020 by admin 2 Comments

Each version of the Windows operating system is packed with tens of programs, and many of them are under Accessories or Windows Accessories folder. The Windows Accessories folder can be easily accessed by opening the Start menu and then scrolling down the apps list. The Windows Accessories folder appears towards the end.

With default settings, the Windows Accessories folder includes Character Map, Internet Explorer, Math Input Panel, Notepad, Paint, Remote Desktop Connection, Snipping Tool, Steps Recorder (Problem Steps Recorder), Sticky Notes, Windows Fax and Scan, Windows Journal, WordPad, and XPS Viewer programs.

I have seen many users complaining that the Accessories folder is missing from the Start menu in Windows 10. If you’re unable to locate the Windows Accessories folder in Start menu, please try out the following solutions to access and restore the Accessories folder and programs under it.

Unlike programs in the Start menu, the Windows Accessories folder and other default folders like Windows System can’t be deleted right from the Start menu. Unless the folder is deleted by some other means (by navigating to Programs folder), the folder must be under the Start menu.

IMPORTANT: Please note that the Accessories folder has been renamed as Windows Accessories in Windows 10. Please look for the Windows Accessories folder first in the Start menu before trying out given below suggestions.

Method 1 of 2

Access the Accessories folder in Windows 10

Step 1: Simultaneously press the Windows logo and R keys on the keyboard to open the Run command dialog box.

Step 2: In the box, type the following path and then press the Enter key.

%ProgramData%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs

Step 3: Under the Programs folder, the Windows Accessories folder should appear.

Step 4: If the Windows Accessories folder is appearing under the Programs folder, then it should appear in the Start menu as well.

If for some reason, the Windows Accessories located under Programs folder is not appearing in Start menu when you click All apps and navigate to “W” section, right-click on the Windows Accessories folder and then click Pin to Start option to pin the folder to the right side of the Start menu in the form of tile.

Method 2 of 2

Restore the Windows Accessories folder

If the Windows Accessories folder is not appearing under Programs directory as shown in the picture below, then you can copy and paste the Windows Accessories folder from another installation of Windows 10 on your PC or another PC.

In our case, we simply copied Windows Accessories folder from a preview build of Windows 10 installed on another partition of Windows 10 and copied to Programs directory to restore the missing Windows Accessories folder and program shortcuts.
