Add Control Panel To Win+X Power User Menu In Windows 10

The Win + X menu or power user menu was introduced with Windows 8 to let users easily access various system tools such as Disk Management, Control Panel, and Command Prompt.

The Win + X menu is nothing but the menu that appears when you simultaneously press the Windows logo and X keys on the keyboard or when you perform a right-click on the Start button on the taskbar.

In Windows 10 Anniversary Update and earlier builds, the power user menu or Win+X menu displays Control Panel option, among other options. But in Windows 10 build 14942 or later builds, the Control Panel option has been replaced with the Settings.

It’s clear that Microsoft intends to replace the classic Control Panel with the new Settings app, but, at this point in time, the Settings app lacks many of the options available in the classic Control Panel. You can find many links in the Settings directing to the Control Panel for more options.

If you often open Control Panel using the Win + X menu, you might want to add Control Panel option back to the Win+X power user menu to quickly open Control Panel in Windows 10. Luckily, there are workarounds to add Control Panel to Win+X power user menu, or start button right-click menu with or without the help of third-party utilities.

Refer to the given below directions to add or restore the Control Panel option to the Win+X power user menu in Windows 10.

Add Control Panel to Win+X menu

There is a free utility called Win+X Menu Editor to customize the Win+X power user menu. Here is how to use it to add Control Panel to the Win+X power user menu.

Step 1: Download Win+X Menu Editor from here. Extract the zip file to get the program.

Step 2: Depending on the type of Windows 10, run the Win+X Menu Editor executable file located in either x64 or x86 folder.

Step 3: Once the program is launched, select either Group 1, Group 2, or Group 3. We are selecting Group 2 in this guide as we would like to add Control Panel option next to the Settings option.

Step 4: Click Add a program button, click Add a Control Panel item, select Control Panel from the list and then click Add button.

Step 5: Click Restart Explorer to restart Windows Explorer. The Control Panel option should now appear when you right-click on the Start button or press Win+X keys. Good luck!
