How To Find Scanned Documents In Windows 10

Have you scanned one or more documents or pictures with the built-in Windows Fax and Scan or the new Scan app on your Windows 10 PC, but are not sure where they are saved? Do you want to find recently scanned documents on a Windows 10 device? Here is how to find all scanned documents and pictures in Windows 10.

The latest version of Windows 10 offers two apps to scan documents and pictures. The classic Windows Fax and Scan program and the new Scan app. Both these apps save scanned documents to different locations.

With default settings, the Fax and Scan app saves all scanned documents and pictures in a folder called “Scanned Documents” located under the “Documents” folder. Here is how to access it.

Step 1: Open File Explorer or This PC.

Step 2: Click the Documents folder in the left navigation pane to open it.

Step 3: Here, find and double-click the Scanned Documents folder to find all scanned documents and pictures with the Windows Fax and Scan app.

You may change the view to list view and then sort files by “date” to quickly find recently scanned documents/pictures.

The modern Scan app, which is developed as a replacement for the old Fax and Scan app, saves scanned files to a folder called Scans. Here is how to access it.

Step 1: Open any folder or the This PC folder.

Step 2: Click the Pictures entry in the left pane to open the Pictures folder.

Step 3: Here, double-click the Scans folder to see all scanned documents and picture files.

Tip: The new Scan app lets you save scanned files in the popular PDF format as well.
