Notepad has been part of the Windows operating system for decades. For over three decades, Notepad was a basic note-taking app. However, over the last few years, Microsoft has updated Notepad multiple times to add new features and options.

The Notepad app, like most other inbox apps, can be installed from the official Microsoft Store.
Install Notepad from the Microsoft Store in Windows 11
Follow the instructions below to install the Notepad app on Windows 11.
Step 1: Use the search to open the Microsoft Store app.
Step 2: In the Microsoft Store app, search for “Windows Notepad” to see its entry in the results.
Step 3: Click the Windows Notepad entry to see the dedicated page.
Step 4: Here, click the Get or Install button to download and install the Notepad app. The Notepad app should be installed in a few seconds to a minute, depending on your internet connection speed.
Once the Notepad app is installed, you may launch it via the Start menu or search. If you often use Notepad, we recommend pinning it to the taskbar for quick and easy access.
Turn on or off Copilot in Notepad
Step 1: Open the Notepad app.
Step 2: Click the gear/settings icon in Notepad’s toolbar to open the settings page.
Step 3: Scroll down the page and then click the toggle button next to Copilot to turn on or off the Copilot feature.
