A graphics or display driver is responsible for rendering images and videos on your screen. An incorrect, outdated, or corrupt graphics driver can cause multiple issues.
If your Windows 11 PC is powered by AMD Radeon graphics and you are encountering display issues, reinstalling the graphics driver might fix the issue.
Reinstalling the AMD Radeon graphics driver is a pretty straightforward job. You do not need third-party tools to reinstall the graphics driver, although AMD offers a dedicated tool to uninstall drivers.
Reinstall AMD graphics driver on Windows 11 PC
Here is how to reinstall the AMD Radeon graphics driver on a Windows 11 PC.
Step 1: Perform a right-click on the Windows logo button/Start button on the taskbar and then click Device Manager to open the Device Manager window.
Step 2: Here, double-click on Display Managers to see your AMD Radeon graphics card’s entry.
Step 3: Right-click the AMD graphics entry and click the Uninstall device option.
Step 4: Once you click the Uninstall device option, you should see the following prompt on the screen. Select the Attempt to remove the driver for this device checkbox.
Click the Uninstall button to uninstall and remove the AMD graphics driver from your Windows 11 installation. During the uninstallation process, your screen might flicker.
IMPORTANT: The text on your screen might blur, and Windows might automatically shift to a lower screen resolution once the driver is removed.
Step 5: Once the AMD graphics driver is uninstalled, we recommend you restart your PC once. Please note that Windows 11 might not show any messages to indicate that the graphics driver has been uninstalled. The uninstall generally is completed in a few seconds.
Step 6: Now that you have uninstalled the driver, it’s time to download and install the AMD Radeon graphics driver.
Visit your PC manufacturer’s website or this official page of the AMD device drivers webpage, and then download the AMD Radeon graphics driver for your PC’s model, AMD Radeon graphics card’s model, or processor’s model (in the case of on-board graphics). Simply type the model name and number in the search box and then select graphics to see available graphics driver.
Run the downloaded AMD Radeon graphics driver setup file and follow the on-screen instructions to install the AMD Radeon graphics driver again. All you need to do is click the Next button and then the Install button. This completes the AMD Radeon graphics driver reinstallation.
NOTE: You can also try to install the driver via Windows Update. To do that, open Windows 11 Settings using the search or simultaneously pressing the Windows logo and I key. Go to the Windows Update page and click the Check for updates button. Windows Update should automatically download and install the correct AMD Radeon graphics driver.
